The Man's Ribs

Here is the recipes for the sweet and sour ribs. For 1 lb. of ribs add

  • 1 soup spoon of Chinese white wine
  • 2 soup spoons of Chinese black vinegar (鎭江醋)
  • 3 soup spoons of dark/old soy sauce (老抽)
  • 4 soup spoons of sugar
Just put everything in and cook for 20 min.

Yes, it's that easy.

P.S. For those who wonder about the title, it's Gen 2:21.

God wants Adam to know that the helper that He is about to give him is not like the rest of the animals that God had created, but is one who is comparable to Adam, so that Adam will know that he is to love and cherish her above all others.

Shouldn't it be faith first, and then obedience? :)

Just a note - we're not called to do the work of God's kingdom blindly... rather we do it in obedience and as a response to what He has done for us. But there remains no clear indication in the Bible of what it really means to do what we define as "God's kingdom work". Some people define that as church ministry, some define that as missions.

I think the Bible thru the epistles defines obedience and God's work as our life worship. The emphasis is on how to relate to one another in relationships, and to spread God's word through relationships and through the continued preaching of His word. But it does not hold that a preacher would then be excused from his relationships - if anything, all the roles that he teaches about should then be upheld even more so.

Of course, people fail because of their innate sin. But I think it's a misconception that we commonly have - God's work is more important than the people around us! I should leave my wife behind and go on a two week mission trip even if she's sick because that's God's work and I can't care if she wants me to stay behind!

But God's work is to the people around you, and especially to those you have a responsibility to. Such as your parents. Your children. Your wife. And through your life witness as well, will God's light shine through. Otherwise, why did Paul spend so many letters encouraging Christians on how they should behave to one another and at home? Instead of saying "You should go on missions, you should do this and that ministry etc..."

My bottom line? What IS God's work? My answer is - to trust and obey God in all areas, and that includes family. It's mistaken to say that family comes after God. Unless family insists you don't follow God, which is a different ballgame. Your spouse would be an important factor in this - you have a specific ministry to your spouse that no one else can hold. Which is why it is important to be together in Christ - then the spouse (or yourself) would understand the need to release one another to further God's kingdom at some point.
